Tottenham give fans behind scenes look at new stadium with four-hour test event

SPURS fans were given a first glimpse of their new stadium.

As SunSport revealed last month, the club allowed 6,000 fans to take part in a four-hour familiarisation day ahead of two test events at the ground.

The stadium with a capacity of 62,062 should be ready for the Premier League game against Newcastle on February 2 following months of delay.

Supporters were allowed to sit at the single-tiered 17,500 South Stand.

Food and drink outlets within The Market Place were also open, which included the longest bar in Europe at 65 metres.

Beer will start from £4 a pint. Fish and chips costs £8.95 and pies £3.50.

Spurs fan Justin Brannon, 46, from Henham, Essex said: “It was amazing. It still has the feel of White Hart Lane.”

Antony Dust, 35, from Saffron Walden, said: “I’ve been to grounds all over the world and have not visited a stadium that compares to this. Daniel Levy and Co deserve serious credit.”

The only surprise was that players do not appear to have much room for taking corners due to the slope at the side of the pitch.

Tottenham currently sit in third place in the Premier League table - two points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea.
