Studland Heath fire: Huge fire raging in National Trust nature reserve - with flames seen for miles
A HUGE fire that can be seen from five miles away was raging across a National Trust nature reserve last night.
Dorset and Wiltshire police warned locals to stay away as they fight to tame the giant flames in Studland Heath.
It’s thought to have spread to 600 square metres, and can be clearly seen from Poole, Dorset.
Shocking photos show the blazing inferno that has turned the sky bright red.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "We received a call at 8.26pm this evening from a member of the public who could see a lot of smoke coming from Studland Heath.
"Crews from Swanage (two), Westbourne, Poole, Christchurch, Hamworthy and Wimborne along with Land Rover pumps from Swanage, Poole, Hamworthy and Bere Regis, the Unimog from Wareham and a water carrier also from Poole are currently in attendance.
"Approximately 600 square metres of heathland is well alight, and our crews are working hard to put in a fire break to protect neighbouring properties."
