CHELSEA are expected to complete the signing of Benfica star Enzo Fernandez.

That's according to Betfair, who've priced Chelsea at 1-3 to clinch his signature before the transfer window closes on Tuesday at 11pm.

Reports claim Chelsea have reopened talks with Benfica over the last 48 hours.

And it's thought the Premier League club have now sent a delegation to Portugal to thrash out a deal.

The Blues attempted to sign Fernandez at the beginning of January, but didn't want to trigger his £105million release clause.

Now, after failing in their attempts to poach other targets Moises Caicedo and Everton midfielder Amadou Onana - Fernandez is their sole priority.

Benfica president Rui Costa is insistent that the £105m release clause will need to be met in order to green-light a sale.

But Chelsea still want to spread the cost to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

If Fernandez, a World Cup winner with Argentina, arrives he would become the eighth arrival at Stamford Bridge this month.

David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Malo Gusto have all been added to Graham Potter's squad.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "With the January transfer window closing on Tuesday night, Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea is the most likely mover at 1/3, with the Blues keen on landing the 2022 World Cup winner."

There are other interested parties in Fernandez, but all trial Chelsea by a fair amount.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are locked together at 20-1, ahead of Liverpool at 25s.
